Privacy Policy

What this site collects, what it never does with it, and how to get your data removed. Short, because there isn't much to disclose.

What we collect

One thing, and only one. There is no signup form and no mailing list on this site, so it never asks for an email address and stores none. The one thing is measurement: which pages get read, where visits come from, what kind of device they arrive on. We look at it in bulk to see which procedures people actually use. The parts list for that measurement, and the switch that turns it off, are in the next section.

Analytics, parts list

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics, run by the network that serves these pages: no cookies, totals only (page views, countries, referrers).
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC; Google Ireland Ltd. for visitors in Europe): logs the pages viewed, the referring site, approximate city and country, device and browser type, and session timing. It does not log or store IP addresses, and it tells browsers apart only by a random ID.
  • Switched off: advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation. The data is not used for ads and is never sold.
  • Cookies: _ga and _ga_<ID>, lifespan up to two years, set only after analytics is allowed and deleted if you decline later.

Who gets asked: if your device's time zone is in Europe — the EEA, the UK or Switzerland — a banner asks before Google Analytics loads, and Google receives nothing until you press Accept. Elsewhere analytics runs by default and you can turn it off whenever you like. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser counts as an opt-out. The answer is stored in local storage as analytics-consent, not as a cookie, and the cookie settings link brings the banner back if you want to change it.

Google's privacy policy covers what it does with the data; its opt-out browser add-on blocks Google Analytics on every site, not just this one.

What we never do

We do not sell your data. We do not rent it or trade it, and there is no email list here to hand to anyone. The two analytics services listed above receive only what they need to count visits, and nothing here changes based on who is paying us a commission.

Some links on this site are referral links. When you click one, the destination company may set its own cookies to attribute a later purchase to us; that tracking happens on their side and under their privacy policies, not ours. How those links work, which companies are involved, and what they pay us is laid out plainly in our affiliate disclosure.

Cookies

This site sets the minimum it can get away with: the two Google Analytics cookies, only once analytics is allowed, and nothing built for advertising. Vendors you click through to may set their own cookies once you land on their sites, as described above. Blocking cookies in your browser will not break any procedure on this site.

Your data, your call

There is no mailing list, so there is nothing to unsubscribe from. If you want to know what we hold about you, want it corrected, or want it deleted entirely, email [email protected] — details on reaching us are on the contact page. There is no subscriber list, so unless you have written to us, there is no address of yours here to remove.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change — a new tool, a new type of data — this page changes first, in plain language, before the practice starts. We treat this policy the way we treat every procedure in the manual: it describes what actually happens, or it gets revised. Last revised October 9, 2026.
